Ewart (Winds, Percussion, Poetry and Invented Instruments). Triganol brings together three mighty streams for an expansive foray into improvised music.

The Cedar is honored to host Laurel Premo + Jake Shulman-ment. Laurel and Jake share a certain ruminant, compositional style in their work, each drawing from deep roots in the folk music and stories of their ancestors. In this extraordinary concert, their two
separate sets as soloists will culminate in a collaborative performance that explores new sounds and connections in a shared American story of migration, search for identity and community, and innovation.

As the lovechild of Hole and Lucinda Williams, Brennan Wedl sings the songs of her life with honesty, grit and style. With her new single “Two Dollar Pistol” out on Kill Rock Stars, Wedl is squaring up for 2024 with new music in the hopper and extensive touring. The Cedar is delighted to be a Saturday night stage for this package of artists featuring Dirt Buyer and friends from the MInneapolis based She Rock She Rock (Girls Rock and Roll Retreat), minigolf.

Touring behind her first album in nine years, VIDA, with media outlets like Rolling Stone naming her as the best rapper in Spanish, The New York Times pointing to her as the Latin American response to Lauryn Hill and magazines like Newsweek ranking her as the most important Latin American rapper on the international scene - The Cedar is super excited to be presenting this show in our very special 35th Anniversary year!

LE WINSTON BAND with Steam Machine
Le Winston Band is a one-of-a-kind Quebec ensemble that blends its French-Canadian roots with Zydeco and Cajun music. Since 2012, the band has been all over spreading its joie de vivre in Canada and Europe, through a sound that fuses the rich Louisiana musical tradition with original compositions. Making their debut in the Twin Cities at The Cedar - please put your dancing shoes on and come fais do-do with us!
GROSSE ISLE with Morcava
Comprising of Irish uilleann piper Fiachra O’Regan, Québec fiddler/singer Sophie Lavoie, and guitarist André Marchand, Grosse Isle takes traditional Irish and Québécois traditional music, blended with Lavoie’s “lithe and masterful” compositions. Their choice of songs will “captivate the most casual listener.” Minneapolis’ Morcava to open.
Cedar-Riverside Time Machine: Part 1
We turn our projector on and pull back the curtains for this special variety show and film screening on the history of the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood. Featuring the short film about the history of the Riverside Plaza towers, Brutal Utopias by Morgan Adamson, as well as ongoing research from students in the University of Minnesota's Heritage Studies and Public History Program and Our Streets Minneapolis.
SARA CURRUCHICH with special pre-performance discussion/Q+A
There is no better way of introducing Sara Curruchich than to say that being a woman in Guatemala is an act of resistance, and being a Mayan Kaqchikel woman as well as an artist is not only a political statement, but an act of defiance. RIGHT IN THE EYE: Live Movie-Concert
A live concert designed as a soundtrack to a montage of silent films by Georges Méliès (1861 – 1938) considered to be one of the inventors of cinematography. It is the musical brainchild of Jean-François Alcoléa who has created a magical show where a multi-layered, evocative and intricate score complements and interprets the otherwise silent films.

We first hosted Lyla Abukhodair to play our plaza in August 2023 (during Open Streets) and fell in love...now, the backing band is THE band - playing their debut Minneapolis performance as BAHARAT. Duluth solo artist, Robin Hood Was Right, and local Minneapolis singer/rapper/producer extraordinaire, Eslicky Ricardo open the show.

ASI's Midwinter Folk Festival: Midwinter Nordic Dance + HELENA HALLBERG
Explore contemporary and classic Nordic folk music in a special evening of live performance and dancing at the Midwinter Nordic Dance!This special collaboration features an opportunity to learn and perform Swedish folk dances accompanied by the ASI Spelmanslag and Twin Cities Nyckelharpalag. EventGoers are encouraged to join in lively dancing and celebration—or to sit back and take it all in!
The evening includes an exciting performance by Swedish musician Helena Hallberg, a uniquely diverse artist who blends Folk, Jazz, and Pop to create a captivating fusion of traditional Nordic and American folk music.
