ABOUT THIS SHOW
Gill Weather and Eldest Daughter co-headline The Cedar for this double release show! Joined by special guest Meghan Kreidler (Kiss the Tiger), Eldest Daughter celebrates their upcoming single In My Hand and Gill Weather celebrates their debut album Unreliable Narrator.
Gill Weather
Delicate and defying, Gill weather (formerly Oceanographer) is a love letter to 90’s dream pop, small town origins, and bittersweet memories. Their lush folk soundscape is steeped in sharp and poignant storytelling, welcoming listeners into a “midwest gothic” dreamworld— one where the pink sunset is eclipsed by power lines and fast-food signs, teenagers honeymoon in the football field across the creek, and unrequited love becomes a dead-end job and a baby on the way.
Created by primary lyricist and frontperson, Valentine Lowry-Ortega, Gill Weather is the amalgamation of what it means to be from a place you’ve always wanted to escape.
Gill Weather was a 2025 Nominee at The Loring Awards for “Best Upcoming Artist,” and Valentine a recipient of a 2026 Cedar Commission.
Eldest Daughter
Eldest Daughter is a Twin Cities indie rock four-piece led by singer-songwriter Monica Merila. Since 2024, the band has been winning over local crowds with big, guitar-driven hooks and lyrics that say the quiet part out loud, drawing from the raw, confessional rock of the 90s and the sharp edges of today’s alternative scene.
The name nods to a role a lot of people know well: the one who holds it all together, notices everything, and says what nobody else will. Now in a new chapter, Eldest Daughter co-headlines The Cedar to celebrate In My Hand, the lead single from The Year of the Swan, their first studio EP, out January 2027.
Meghan Kreidler
Meghan Kreidler is best known musically in the Twin Cities as the lead singer of rock band Kiss the Tiger. Her solo project aims to explore the dueling forces of life/death, loss/renewal, and grief/joy through diaristic lyricism and aching melodies.
