Volunteer
Our volunteers are indispensable to keeping the Cedar running; they also have a lot of fun! Volunteers hear much or all of the performance they work at, and they also earn credit towards free passes good for future shows (8 hours credit earns 1 pass; some shifts earn double-credit). We provide a safe, fun, welcoming and smoke-free environment, working alongside music fans of all ages from diverse backgrounds. Tasks that we need extensive help with are setting up the theater before shows, staffing the ticket sales table, helping with concessions, staffing the merchandise table, and cleaning up the theater after shows. We also need frequent help with office work and promotions (unpaid internships available—please ask!), and occasional assistance with gardening, transportation of artists and/or instruments, ASL interpretation, translation, fundraising, maintenance and writing. We welcome ideas for special projects that use YOUR unique skills and talents.
How do I get started?
Every Cedar volunteer must attend a Volunteer Orientation session before they can volunteer. The next Orientation will be held at 7pm Monday, September 15 at the Cedar, and usually takes about 90 minutes. At the end of the orientation you will have an opportunity to sign up for shifts at upcoming shows with vacancies. Shifts for popular shows can fill up weeks in advance, so it pays to plan well ahead. For more information, or to sign up for an orientation, please contact the volunteer coordinator Jason Koffman at (612) 338-2674 ext.102 or jasonDOTkoffmanATthecedarDOTorg

Employer matching gifts
Many companies have matching gift programs that double or even triple the charitable contributions of their employees. Some companies may even contribute financially to match employees' volunteer efforts. If your employer has a matching gift program, please let us know who we can follow up with to help maximize the impact of your volunteer contributions to the Cedar. Please call or email Jason Koffman at (612) 338 2674 x102, with the name and contact information of your company's matching gift coordinator.
