Roma di Luna Holiday Special with special guest Chastity Brown

Doors Open:
7:00pm

Roma di LunaA special holiday show (and the first scheduled performance after the arrival of their first-born child) by Roma di Luna, the husband-and-wife duo of Alexei (vocals, acoustic guitar) and Channy Moon Casselle (vocals, violin) who've carved out a strong following for their sparse interpretations of folk classics and their own striking originals. Now performing with a sympathetic backing band featuring Ben Durrant (electric guitar), JG Everest (bass guitar), Ryan Lovan (drums), Jessi Prusha (backing vocals), and sometimes Mike Rossetto (banjo), their sound has become fuller but no less emotionally penetrating. Tonight, they'll be joined by stunning roots/gospel-influenced vocalist Chastity Brown.Chastity Brown

"Transitioning from an acoustic duo to a full band sounds effortless for husband/wife team Alexei and Channy Moon Casselle -- he of gravelly voiced Crescent Moon rapper fame, and she of serene, siren-like singing ability. Their edgy, starry-night country/folk music is nicely filled in with softly plunked banjo, pretty violin and pristine electric guitar parts. But their intimate, evocative songs are still the attraction, along with Channy's uncanny voice, like Margo Timmons mixed with Joanna Newsom." (Chris Riemenschneider, Minneapolis Star Tribune, Jun 26, 2008)

"A Minneapolis-by-way-of-Knoxville roots-soul singer of the first order, Chastity Brown possesses the sort of rare chilled-out star quality that goes beyond time and place." (Jim Walsh, Minneapolis Star Tribune)

"While what immediately struck me was this young lady’s gorgeous vocals, I was also taken aback by how much trust she put in the audience. Like we were all a bunch of old friends, she opened up all of her pains and sorrows to us, she shed a few tears, and never seemed to hold anything back."
