The Infamous Stringdusters are the new vanguard of acoustic music. Well crafted songs, vivid arrangements, instrumental virtuosity, stunning improvisation, unique individuality and complete harmony… Bluegrass, Rock, Country, Blues, Folk, and Jazz, the “IS” is American Acoustic Music.
When The Infamous Stringdusters was released in June by Sugar Hill Records, some assumed from the title that it was a debut recording. Those already aware of the Stringdusters phenomenon will know differently: that 2007's Fork in the Road was the album that boldly introduced this daring, disciplined band to the world of bluegrass and a wider world of music enthusiasts who heard it and decided: 'if that's bluegrass, then I love bluegrass.' Fork in the Road was named Album of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association. Its title track was named Song of the Year, and the band itself earned the honor of Best Emerging Artist in a competitive field. It was a stunning cap to an amazing 2007.

“Innately creative and defiantly adventurous, they are concerned only with hurling their talents together and stamping new identities onto Brazilian music.” (Global Rhythm Magazine)
Here on his own "solo" album, Kassin fully explores the smooth, swank, easygoing Latin-pop-lounge vibe he's worked on elsewhere, and the results are simply yummy. Soft-salsa, samba, funk, dub, surf, rock and electronica all merge together with the delicious, all-encompassing ease that typifies the best of Brazilian pop. There's a wide variety of textures and tones, and all of it sounds alluring and fresh. One of the most subtle and subtly challenging Brazilian pop albums of recent vintage, the sound of a younger generation branching out and finding a global audience. Well worth checking out! (DJ Joe Sixpack, Slipcue Brazilian Music Guide)
"an effervescent collage of samba, airy folk, and sheer mysticism" (Spin Magazine)
Kassin + 2 is the new portrait of Rio’s rich musical, cultural and ethnic diversity. Alexandre Kassin takes charge for the final installment in the + 2 trilogy — fellow band members Moreno Veloso (son of the great Caetano Veloso) and Domenico Lancellotti were the featured names for the first two rounds. Heirs to a family heritage of Tropicalia and Samba and respected producers in their own right, this unique mix of traditional Brazilian songwriting with the quirky beats, loops, and noises of contemporary electronica is defining the sound of the New Brazil.

As the NY Times noted of Bromberg, “He has such control of his audience that he can, at one moment, hold it in his hand with a tender, touching yet funny anecdotal song, and then set it romping and stomping with a raucous bit of raunch. He is electrifying.”

Café Accordion Orchestra (CAO) performs an eclectic mix of vintage Swing, Latin, American, and French Café Music. The band first formed in 1994 with the idea of recreating the repertoire of Bal Musette orchestras, the bands that were popular in Parisian cafés and bistros in the 1920’s through 1950’s. While this romantic music is still at the heart of CAO’s play-list, they have expanded their repertoire to include Colombian Cumbia, Tex-Mex Polka, Brazilian Forro and Chorro, movie themes, and anything else that the members find appealing. Led by the quietly dazzling Dan Newton, this quintet knows the value of understatement, subtlety, and genuine swing.

Davina and the Vagabonds will get things cookin' with their melting pot of blues and jazz, New Orleans style. Davina has been called the "hardest-working blueswoman in frigid Minnesota." "Two things remain consistent at all her shows, though: her throaty but cushiony voice, which has a sort of hard-mattress comfort to it that's part Bonnie Raitt, Etta James and a little Amy Winehouse, and her band's rollicking New Orleans flavor, driven home by dueling horn players and a bayou-thick standup bass. Now they dine together (playing music), they take the train (playing music), bike (carrying their instruments, singing), camp (playing music), and bring the party wherever they end up.

This unique minimalist trio was formed in 2005 by three friends and consummate performers with the idea of playing their favorite songs unplugged, but with the opportunity to enhance the inherent attributes of the tunes with as wide a range of interpretation as they saw fit: from the plainest rendition to an all out swinging nuttiness. With their natty suits and their unique jazz, rock, soul and pop chops, The New Standards tell each song’s story in singular style.
